There are dozens of things we can be proud of, and then there’s things we can’t. The marketing team at Red Bull thinks about every customer interaction, every time someone orders a drink, every time a person walks into a store. No detail is too small to make a difference.
It’s all about the “little” things. When I was younger I could talk about my brand all day, every day, but now that I’m older I only have so much time to talk about my brand. I’m not always sure what words to use to explain my brand, how to translate it into action or how I might need to change something.
This is something I’ll be talking about in the next two paragraphs.
It’s the first thing I’ve ever heard about the “coolness” of brand promotion and marketing. It’s been said that “the best things to do in a marketing campaign are the ones with the most success.” This is the most important thing, not to mention that it’s the only thing that really matters.
I think this is something that has been so obvious it is probably best to just give an example. The first thing to realize about your brand is that you do not have a perfect idea of what it is. You have a vague idea, but because you don’t know what you’re doing, you can’t go out and perfect it. Once you realize this and start working to perfect the concept, you have a better idea because you have a better understanding of what the brand is about.
As an example, let’s use the Nike shoe line. Nike wanted to get people to associate the idea of running with the idea of running shoes. The reason they were so successful here was because they used the word “run” in a generic way and made it sound cool. But it also helped them to make the logo a bit more iconic as well. That is, the logo is about the idea of running, not running shoes.
So to take it back a bit, the Nike logo is not about running. It’s about the idea of what it is to run. It’s about the product in a general way.
That’s the thing. You don’t have to be a running shoe brand to be a running shoes brand. The Nike logo is about the idea of running, not the shoes.
What people really want is a logo that is timeless, one that looks great on all sorts of apparel and products. It should also look great on your website, but when you use it, it should look good. The logo should be a part of the overall brand image, not just a small part of it. It’s also important to your marketing and branding campaign to make sure that the logo is also incorporated into the marketing copy so that the logo becomes part of the branding.
