A lot of marketing departments don’t really know the people they are marketing to. Its pretty common to have people come in to the company thinking they are just trying to sell them something, they know very little about the company, or even if they know the company. There is a difference between trying to sell a product to a consumer and using that to try to attract people to a company. The latter is much more important.
There are a lot of marketing departments who do not know how to market themselves. They don’t know why they should market themselves to that level. They only know how to sell to a consumer.
The main reason a company is a distributor is that they make the decisions on what products to sell and when. When they don’t know how to sell themselves to that level, they are nothing more than distributors selling something to people who don’t know why they should buy.
If you have a marketing department that doesnt know how to sell themselves to this level, you are literally a distributor selling something to consumers who arent aware they should buy. That is why a distributor is important. A distributor knows exactly what to do and when to do it. A distributor can sell to consumers for a long time before they have to ask for a dime.
The only people who really know which distributor sells what to whom are marketers. This is because they have a lot of experience with selling to consumers. A lot of times this means you can make a few bucks on the side. But the truth is, it’s usually not worth it, and to be honest, nobody really knows what it is that a distributor sells. They are distributors, after all.
Some distributors have a very short shelf-life, and they usually aren’t very good at what they do. But most distributors have more time to put into marketing than most people do, so they are probably worth it if you can find a way to do it well.

As a marketing tool, being able to use distributors will give you a much larger audience that is willing to pay a bit more for your product.
